Got something to say?

Loved the interview, but I will say it again and get on my soap box. Technology companies are great at what they do, no quesion of that in Idaho. Recruiting talented people and running a tech company are two different things entirely.
An open req. for 9 months at Balihoo? There are many reasons for this all of them can be solved. There is so much software talent here, and at a very sr. leve. I agree that education is important, but to continually say its an education issue is not the whole truth.
My first questions to a company in that position would be:
1) Why is no one attracted to you after 9 mos. Talent is here why are you not seeing them? This is a tough question, but relevant to your search.
2) If it’s been open for this time, how TRULY urgent is it to fill?
3) Pay is an issue, second behind quality of work environment and projects. Is your pay rate matching the market, if not what can we do to attract top talent to your vision?
Just a few to start, but I’d be very interested to hear their recruiting methodology, compared to blaming on a lack luster education system.
I beleive Mark’s friend that flew in for Idavation, even said that education and having and engineering school focus isn’t the most important thing. The talent is there, but sometimes you have to look hard at your practices of attracting talent over inventing talent, or expecting the education system to turn out new fresh talent.
Great interview, just my thoughts on building out the talent base.
